All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle in Dorset requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Dorset, drivers must be at least 21 years of age, though this may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the category of vehicle, is required and must have been held for the duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of current address are necessary, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional criteria may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dorset office. A deposit might be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are usually collected when you pick up your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment processors.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, a thorough inspection of the vehicle is required, and any pre-existing damage must be reported without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle late, as this may incur extra charges. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges that occur during the rental, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance as standard. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help limit your financial exposure. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of any insurance in place.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Usage Restrictions for Rented Vehicles
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities, including racing or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Traveling outside specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by law in England and Wales, Car Hire Dorset is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is limited to the rental amount paid in the past year. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Amendments to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
